Frequently Asked Questions

How long will the process take?

Every individual is different and is highly dependent on their needs and therapy goals. Research shows that outpatient individual therapy, it can range from 3 to 45 sessions that span for several years (Flückiger et al., 2020). For short-term therapy, expect it to range from 6-14 sessions. For long-term therapy, clients can spend from as little as few months with a therapist to several years, with appointments going on and off depending on circumstances.

It is recommended, especially for long-term therapy, to spend the first couple of sessions on weekly or biweekly basis to get comfortable with the therapist’s style and determine whether they are a good fit for you. The therapist typically sends out client change feedback forms and questionnaires to check if progress is made towards therapy goals, including the therapeutic relationship.

Please discuss with me through consultation and intake on what the length of sessions could look like based on your needs.
